What is carding?

Carding is when a fraudster gains access to a website’s credit card processing form. The fraudster will attempt to process a list of stolen credit cards in hopes of receiving an approved transaction.

The fraudster isn’t looking to buy anything from your store but rather they are attempting to identify credit cards that work using your payment form. They then take the credit cards that approved and purchase items elsewhere.

Must know:

  • As a business owner, it is essential to monitor and review the transaction activity that takes place on your account.

Good to know:

  • The more information you require to process a payment, the more difficult it is for a fraudster to complete a successful transaction.
