How do I connect my shopping cart to Worldline?

One way to process payments through Worldline is to connect your shopping cart to our Payments API. When connecting to an API it is important to avoid illegitimate transactions; therefore, transaction requests made via our Payments API must include a form of authentication.

Authentication is how you sync up your software or shopping cart with Worldline. Once enabled, we will process transactions by validating the authentication and confirming the transactions are being sent from your shopping cart. Think of it as a secret handshake!

Must know:

  • If you do not integrate your shopping cart with Worldline correctly, your transactions will not reach your Worldline account, and you will receive an error message such as ‘Entered information cannot be authenticated’, ‘Call Help Desk’ or ‘Authentication Failed’.
  • Your shopping cart should be able to help with any integration questions.

Once you determine the type of authentication your shopping cart requires, you will then need to enter that information along with your merchant ID into the shopping cart configuration to complete the connection.

If your shopping cart uses API Passcode
  1. Within the Portal, go to Administration > Account Settings > Order Settings.
  2. Scroll down, and in the Payment Gateway section, under Security/Authentication, find the API Passcode option.
  3. Click ‘Generate New Code’.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click ‘Update’.
  5. A confirmation box will open. Click ‘OK’.
If your shopping cart uses a Hash Key

  2. Scroll down, and in the Payment Gateway section, under Security/Authentication, select the checkbox ‘Require hash validation on all Payment Gateway transaction requests’.
  3. Enter a Hash Key if there isn’t one entered already. The Hash Key must be at least eight characters; it doesn't matter what those characters are.
  4. Select (and make a note of) the type of Hash algorithm you are using (MD5 or SHA-1).
  5. At the bottom of the page, click ‘Update’.
  6. A confirmation box will open. Click ‘OK’.

 Good to know:

  • There are many plugins available online to help integrate your software or shopping cart with Worldline. These plugins are available through a third-party developer and not through Worldline directly. Any questions regarding your chosen plugin must go to the developer of the plugin directly.
  • Worldline North America does not use Secret Token. If you have downloaded a plugin that requires a ‘Secret Token,’ it will not be compatible with your account.
